The award winning Expedia.co.uk is the largest online travel provider for the UK, serving millions of travellers every year. Expedia Inc.’s companies operate more than 100 branded points of sale in more than 60 countries and also power travel bookings for over 10,000 partners such as airlines and hotels, consumer brands, and high traffic websites.
An existing client of Digital Balance, Expedia came to us with a brief for a version two production of their existing Expedia GLO app. The Expedia audience had grown to double its original size and a new communications platform was needed alongside the LMS apps original functionality. At the same time, Expedia wanted to implement a full redesign to reflect their colourful and modern branding.
Working closely with the Expedia team to fully understand their needs and alongside their in-house design team, we created an expanded app with a home page ‘hub’ to seamlessly join the two sides of the app: learning and communications. Version two of the app now allows users to access articles, news and top stories, daily challenges and training content. Admin can now also apply tags to content to group resources and create a smoother UX. The card-based layout and bold use of colour has brought the app up-to-date with modern design trends.
